General Decription of the University The roots of Balñkesir University dates back to Karesi Teacher Training School which was founded in 1910. This school was moved to the building which is being operated as Necatibey Education Faculty in 1932 thanks to the Minister of Education Sir Mustafa Necati’s special interest on this mattââ¬â¹er. The number of higher education institutions in Balñkesir reached four until the year 1982: Necatibey Education Institution, Civil Engineering and Architecture Academy of State, Balñkesir Enterprise and Tourism College, Balñkesir Vocational High School. These institutions had their names and status changed by the decree number 41 and they were attached Uludaß University. Necatibey Teacher Training School continued to train teachers between 1932-1982 as a Teacher Training Institution; It was transformed into a faculty allowing it to provide four years ñf Higher Education; When it was attached to Uludaß University in 1982, it was named Necatibey Education Faculty. The name of Balñkesir Enterprise and Tourism College was changed and became Balñkesir Tourism Management and Accommodation College. Balñkesir Vocational School’s name remained the same. These institutions had been a part of Uludaß University and they growed to be better in a sound a dn consistent manner allowing Balñkesir University to have a solid backbone. Balñkesir University was established as suggested in the law number 3837 which was published on Official Gazette number 21281 on July 11 1992. As of January First of 1993, it became a Legal Entity and it is performing its operations through its 9 faculties, 5 institutions, 6 Colleges and 16 Vocational Colleges, 12 Research Center, 1 Research Lab, 4 Departments, A Teaching Staff of 858 and 34315 students. There are 8 Faculties, 3 Institues, 5 Schools, 16 Vocational Schools take place on the Cagis Campus of Balñkesir University. Cagis Campus has been established on 5000 hectared-area on the 17th km of Balñkesir-Bigadic Road inside Cagis and Pasakoy boarders.
